I recently bought two "meatball" books; this one and Global Meatballs by Adeline Myers. If you want the world cuisine treatment that includes dozens and dozens of meatball recipes from every continent and culture then you would be best served by the latter book. The Meatball Shop Cookbook on the other hand has about 25 meatball recipes based on beef, pork, chicken, duck, rabbit, fish, shrimp plus the obligatory veggie ball version if you're so oriented. But, unlike the Global Meatball book TMS includes side dishes, salads, sauces, dressings, desserts (including their homemade ice cream recipes) that turn even the most mundane midweek meatball night into a gastro-pub event. This is seriously good food and the book shows it off in the best light with gorgeous pics of almost every dish. They also provide some basic culinary technique to teach the uninitiated how to make a flavorful meatball that's tender and moist yet holds together no matter how it's sauced or combined with other ingredients. The cooking tips are spread throughout the entire book so you might want to do a little reading before you start that first batch of balls. As I said, I bought the two books and appreciate both, but Global Meatballs really focuses on authentic world cuisine recipes, while TMS is inherently American pub grub done really, really well.

I love the Meatball Shop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and took my family there every time they visited. As Californians, they of course craved the meatball deliciousness from he opposite coast. For my sister's birthday, I discovered The Meatball Shop Cookbook and immediately sent it as her gift. She loves it! My family had has Meatball Shop nights and apparently the white sauce recipe is so successful that it has been declared a universal sauce for use in all sandwich, pasta, and sundry food dishes as it can be applied to. Huge success!

This is so much better than I expected. There are all kinds of meatball recipes. These are the same meatballs that are served in their restaurants and even include a vegetarian version. Then there are sides, go-withs, sauces, salads and even desserts! The recipes are designed for the home cook and can be prepared and served right away or they suggest how they can be frozen and reheated. We are not talking gargantuan quantities here but, most of the recipes can easily be multiplied. The photos and illustrations are wonderful, too.The desserts are all cookies that are used to make ice cream sandwiches.This one's definitely a keeper for me.

This is the best cookbook on the planet. Living in NYC, I always recommend TMS as somewhere really cool and local to go, with food that everyone will love. I have a lot of food allergies, and I can eat almost everything there. When I found out the owners had done this book, I immediately got it for my brother so that he can bring NYC to his friends in the south! The recipes are extremely easy to follow, and make gracious servings. My favorite is the crab meat balls! But really, you can't go wrong. You will not be disappointed with this cookbook, and there is truly food for any situation included!!

I received the book about a week ago and as is my routine, I read through it before trying any of the recipes. Today, I made the Classic Beef Meatballs and the Classic Tomato Sauce because these are the 'starter' recipes. Oh boy! If it gets better from here, I'm going to be eating well and happily. These were great!! They were both simple to make with mostly basic ingredients that weren't hard to find. The half-teaspoon of ground fennel (I couldn't find this, so I tossed some whole fennel seeds into the coffee grinder) added a different, but pleasant dimension to the meatballs. The combination of meatballs and sauce reminded me of a favorite Italian restaurant and now I can replicate that cuisine at home. Highly recommended!

Fabulous book! I've made three recipes so far(buffalo chicken, spicy pork and tandoori lamb) and all were extremely delicious! And the sauces . . . yummy!The directions are simple to follow and pictures are a nice touch.I've been to the Meatball Shop with my husband and daughter and we all had fun eating as many different selections as possible.Now I'm making them for my family and friends and continuing the good times!If you like meatballs . . . buy this book!If you don't like meatballs . . . you're crazy, buys this book and make some GREAT meatballs!

My daughter took us to the restaurant when we visited her in the city in April. It was really good. Our visit with her was great, however, and I decided to buy the cookbook when we got home as a sort of memento. The first thing I made was the recipe for roasted carrots because I liked them so much in the restaurant. They are great. Just great. But everything I've made out of this book is great! Tonight I made Drunken Pork Balls, with the carrots, of course, cilantro yogurt sauce, and the arugula and apple salad. It was an amazing dinner. The apple cider vinaigrette is great and I will make it all the time. The Drunken Balls were perfect. It's just a great book. It's full of super recipes that are really fun to mix and match. I'm going to buy a few copies to have around to give as gifts. Tomorrow I'm making the roasted fennel!

I had seen the guys on Food Network and was amazed at variety of such yummy-looking meatballs they came up with. Then by chance I found out they had their own cookbook. I have tried several recipes already and hands-down these are the tastiest meatballs I have ever made!Recipes are well written and easy to follow. Love that they have photos for each so that you can see just how yummy they turn out.You have got to try these recipes. I promise you will not regret it and soon your family and friends will be saying that you are an expert cook!
